Newest Goalpost

So, Senator Clinton in an interview is talking about the delegate counts and is once again parroting the bile of her talking head Terry McCauliffe.

I have absolutely NO issue with the contention that Florida/Michigan will/must be seated (outside of the obvious ones that we all share) but at the same time, the delegate math still does not work for Senator Clinton even with the inevitable moving of the goalposts (which must be exhausted by now having formed a new country yesterday).

Currently the Delegate status looks something like this:

Senator Obama
Pledged Delegates 1599
Super Delegates 290
Total Delegates 1889

Current Required:  2025 (-136)
New Goalposts:  2210 (-321)

Senator Clinton
Pledged Delegates 1446
Super Delegates 273
Total Delegates 1719

Current Required:  2025 (-306)
New Goalposts:  2210 (-491)

Michigan
Pledged District-Level -- 83 (Clinton -- 47; Uncommitted -- 36)
Pledged At-large -- 28 (Clinton -- 16; Uncommitted -- 12)
Pledged PLEOs -- 17 (Clinton -- 10; Uncommitted 7)
Unpledged PLEO Add-ons -- 2 (not yet chosen)
Automatic Delegates -- 26 (est. Clinton -- 8; Obama --2)
TOTAL -- 156 (Clinton -- 81; Obama/Uncommitted 57; undeclared/not chosen yet -- 18)

So let's do the math again:

Senator Obama (based on new goalposts)
gain of 57 delegates 2210 (-264)

Senator Clinton (based on new goalposts)
gain of 81 delegates 2210 (-410)

Florida
Pledged District-level 121 (Clinton - 67; Obama - 41; Edwards - 13)
Pledged At-large - 40 (Clinton - 24; Obama - 16)
Pledged - 24 (Clinton - 14; Obama - 10)
Unpledged Add-ons - 3 (not chosen yet)
Automatic Delegates -- 22 (est. Clinton -- 6; Obama -- 2; unpledged -- 14)
TOTAL -- 210 (Clinton -- 111; Obama -- 69; Edwards -- 13; Unpledged/Not yet chosen -- 17)

So let's do the math again:

Senator Obama (based on new goalposts)
gain of 69 delegates 2210 (-195)

Senator Clinton (based on new goalposts)
gain of 111 delegates 2210 (-299)

There are currently a total of 454 delegates up for grabs (pledged and super combined) which means that Senator Clinton needs 309 (65%) of them to commit to her while Senator Obama needs 195 (43%).

How would Senator Clinton propose that she close this 114 delegate gap? There are 189 delegates that will be selected in the upcoming primaries.  Even if you assume (and this is bold) that Senator Obama takes only one half of them (95 to round up)then that leaves approximately 264 remaining delegates.

Again the numbers: Let's go ahead and assume that Senator Clinton and Senator Obama both take 1/2 of the remaining primary delegates (95 each for ease of math).  Senator Obama then needs 100 while Senator Clinton needs 204.  That would mean in effect that while Senator Obama will need approximately 37% of the remaining delegates (100) available (of the 246) Senator Clinton would need an astounding 77% of them (204) to reach her new goalposts.

It's still official.  NO matter how you count Florida and Michigan Senator Clinton you're going to lose this nomination that you so desperately want and feel you are entitled to.  No matter how you do the math, no matter how much you move your goalposts, you CANNOT WIN.

POPULAR VOTE DOES NOT COUNT SENATOR CLINTON.
